Collections Care

At Museum Textile Services we specialize in helping both museums and individuals take control of their textile collections. Sometimes the sheer number and variety of clothing and fabrics in a collection become overwhelming, resulting in poor record keeping, storage, and preservation. Museum Textile Services works on site or at our facilities to prioritize the needs of the collection. We also provide hands-on training to make even large projects feasible.
If all your textile needs is a quick assessment, surface cleaning of dust and fiber, and packing in acid-free storage materials, visit our new
Vac & Pack page for more information.
A collections survey is often the best tool for conservators to assess the condition, age, materials, and conservation needs of historic clothing and textiles. Read more here.
We can respond rapidly to collections emergencies, such as flooding, fire, pests, and microbial activity. Whether you are local or not, MTS can provide information, advice, and a friendly ear to those dealing with unforeseen disasters. Our disaster response resources can be found here.
Do you have a mold, smoke, or odor problem in your collection? Read about our textile fumigation services here.
