Studio Assistant

Museum Textile Services is looking for a part-time studio assistant to join our conservation practice. Responsibilities include scheduling, greeting, informing, and assisting private and institutional clients. Setting up and maintaining client database records. Object packing, photography, and photo administration. Supply inventory management, purchasing, and basic studio maintenance. Eagerness to acquire conservation skills including construction of archival mannequins, object surface cleaning, mounting, and framing.

Qualifications: This vital team member will have a working knowledge of museum collections responsibilities, basic database training, excellent hands-on skills, object handling experience, and a talent for customer service. Professional, friendly demeanor with staff, clients, and potential clients in person, on the telephone, and in writing. Strong computer aptitude and proven project management skills. Related experience working hands-on with cultural heritage and museum materials. Ability to carry 40 lbs., climb stairs, and occasionally work on a ladder. B.A. preferred. 

Compensation & Benefits: $20 per hour. Paid lunch and breaks. Annual professional development budget. Eligible for health insurance, 403b and paid time off after 6 months.

Schedule: 24 total hours on site per week over either three of four weekdays.
