| Leah Wolf Whitehead, Special Projects Intern. After spending the summer of 1984 on an Archaeological dig in Israel, Leah decided that she was going to pursue a career working in museums, preferably with anthropological collections, which would tie in her B.A. in Anthropology and Spanish from Wheaton College. During the late 1980's Leah worked with a variety of collections at the Peabody Museum of Salem, now the Peabody Essex. She then completed her MA in Art History from Columbia University and a Certificate in Museum Studies from NYU. As part of the Museum Studies program, Leah interned at the Peabody Museum at Harvard University and for the following six years worked her way around the Museum in the Collections, Registration, Exhibitions and Conservation Departments. The last position she held at the Peabody was as Ethnographic Collections Manager, which she held only for a few months due to her family's move to Florida for her husband's work. Leah then decided to stay home with her kids and got very involved with their schools. Now back in the Boston area for over six years, and her youngest child in Middle School, Leah has decided it is high time to get back to working with collections! She is thrilled to be part of the MTS team, sharing her collections management experience, along with learning new skills required for textile conservation. |
