Museum Textile Services is pleased to have taken part in the conservation of textiles for the exhibit Voices of the Land : The People of East Tennessee featuring 550 artifacts in and over 350 voices and quotations that tell the story of the land and the people of East Tennessee. The overshot coverlet seen in this photo was made by a former slave. Learn more here.
We also conserved several textiles for the Farnsworth Art Museum, including four painted panoramas of downtown Rockland, ME, from the 1840s. Uncommon Treasures: Folk Art from the Farnsworth celebrates their rich holdings of nineteenth- and twentieth-century artifacts. See more here. |
