Resources Manager (Volunteer)Museum Textile Services is looking for an experienced, organized person to join our team. As part of our 20th anniversary initiative, the MTS website will become an even greater source for collections-care information and academic scholarship.The volunteer resources manager will oversee the migration of paper and electronic scholarly materials, handouts, and web resources onto a new platform on the MTS website. They will help us foster partnerships with educational and cultural agencies, and expand the ways that MTS connects to collections-care and conservation professionals around the world. The ideal applicant will be comfortable with PCs and scanners, and be willing to learn the simple Weebly software. The Resources Manager may engage and supervise additional volunteers as the project proceeds. This volunteer position comes with a fuel stipend, free in-house collections care workshops through the new MTS Learning Lab and paid attendance to a NEMA workshop of your choice each year. Knowledge of museum collections and personnel supervision experience preferred. MTS is convenient to Rts. 495 and 93, and a 2-minute walk from the Ballardvale commuter rail station. Summer InternsMuseum Textile Services has multiple openings available for volunteer interns beginning in June, 2019. Conservation internships require a fifteen-week, one day per week commitment and provide a sound introduction to textile conservation treatments, philosophy, and literature. Hand-sewing experience, excellent eyesight, and great team skills are essential. An interest in a conservation career is preferred. Collections Management internships may be undertaken in a shorter period of time for a minimum of fifteen days. Gain valuable hands-on experience working with the extensive MTS study collection. This internship is ideal for curatorial, collections care, registrarial, or public history students and emerging professionals. Summer projects include redesigning the storage room, writing object-based research blogs, and integrating photographs into our existing E-Hive database. Both internships come with a fuel stipend and a free workshop through the new MTS Learning Lab. MTS is convenient to Rts. 495 and 93, and a 2-minute walk from the Ballardvale commuter rail station.
