Exhibitions

Conservation is an essential component of every successful exhibition. Items being considered for display must be examined and condition reported in order to determine whether they are stable enough. If necessary, conservators will clean the items and make essential repairs. Often a display mount, lining, or hanging system must be constructed and installed. During and after the exhibition, items must be reexamined for any new damage or soiling. Museum Textile Services is pleased to step in at any point in an exhibition, however we encourage you to contact us in the early planning stages.

Museum Textile Services provide expertly designed exhibition mounts and clothing storage systems for these complex and often delicate objects. Most manikins and dress forms can be retro fit for safe use. We can also build you a custom-made ethafoam® manikin for less cost than a most generic archival forms. A custom form means that the clothing always fits right and can be dressed again and again without damage and additional fitting.
