Conservation Assistant

​Museum Textile Services (MTS), a textile conservation studio located in Andover, Massachusetts, is seeking applicants for a Conservation Assistant. This opportunity will provide an emerging conservation professional with the tools to advance their career by participating in textile conservation projects for museums, private collectors, and government agencies. Both off-site and in-studio work is expected, with the probability of some overnight travel. Candidates must have prior art conservation experience, excellent hand stitching, and an interest in textiles and fashion. Basic computer and photography skills, lab sensibilities, and the ability to lift 40 pounds are necessary. BA required; graduate conservation training preferred. Must be eligible to work in the United States. All MTS staff are required to follow the Code of Ethics and Guidelines for Practice of the American Institute for Conservation. This position is part time, three days per week, for the first six months and may become full time thereafter. Competitive salary and benefits include health insurance and retirement contributions.
